Smarter crosswalks, safer streets
Smart, hands-free activation for a safer crossing experience.
Enhance your crosswalk
Our Smart Crosswalk Portfolio is highly configurable, allowing communities to select the right customizations for their safety needs — from passive detection and crosswalk illumination to camera capture and warning alerts.
-
Systems automatically detect when vulnerable road users are approaching the crosswalk to activate the system’s safety enhancements, with configurable zones that match your crossing's needs.
-
Upon system activation, the camera captures the crosswalk event, providing agencies with still images and downloadable video clips — easily accessible through Smart Hub.
-
With activations that occur between dusk and dawn, crosswalk illuminators activate in tandem with the system’s LED enhancements to increase visibility of vulnerable road users.

Optional with any Smart Crosswalk System, illuminate advance stop/yield lines at night to provide motorists with important context ahead of your crosswalks.
-
In addition to passive detection and smart activation, each Smart Crosswalk offers an APS push button of your choice to support ADA and PROWAG requirements.
-
Each crosswalk can be right-sized to meet your needs, with a variety of LED enhancements, including RRFBs, BlinkerSigns and BlinkerBeacons.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the three Smart Crosswalk layers?
"Passive detection, camera capture and crosswalk illumination. Our passive detection is radar-equipped to detect when pedestrians approach the crosswalk. Once the system is activated, our crosswalk camera captures the event for agency review. And with activations that occur from dusk-to-dawn, our crosswalk illuminator activates in tandem with the system to create a high-visibility crossing environment. While all three layers are recommended to maximize safety, it's possible to select any combination of our smart technology to fit the needs of your crosswalks."
Will systems still come with push buttons?
To support ADA and PROWAG requirements, all crosswalks will come with an APS push button of your choice — even when equipped with passive detection. Research has shown that only 28% of pedestrians push the button at a crosswalk, so our passive detection technology ensures our systems automatically activate for all crosswalk users.
How does camera capture work?
When the system is activated, stills and short clips are captured and automatically uploaded to Smart Hub for review. Captured content is easily viewable and downloadable to provide agencies with the tools to identify near-misses and verify systems are working.
Can we add smart technology to an existing crosswalk system?
Yes — our portfolio is designed to adapt to any needs. Agencies can start with an entry-level crosswalk first and later on, add smart capabilities like passive detection, crosswalk illumination, camera capture and smart city software.
Which power option should I choose?
Solar and AC power options are available, depending on the specific needs of your crosswalk. Low-power solar covers most crosswalk systems, as the crosswalk illuminator only runs at night when triggered. AC-powered systems are ideal for locations with shade or situations where the camera's duty cycle demands it.
