Smaller full-matrix boards for city streets and tight sites: the SMC 4000 and 5000 deploy where larger signs can't, and the Mini Matrix trailer is about 30% smaller than a full-size board and tows behind most vehicles at under 2,000 pounds. The SMC 5000 runs 17 days without sun.

Need a smaller trailer that also shows speed?

The ATS 5 and ATS 3 trailers carry a SpeedAlert radar message board or an InstAlert message sign, set up by one person, and run for weeks on battery and solar. They calm traffic, share messages and collect data from one trailer.

“Our old speed trailers were really just window dressing that told drivers how fast they were going. We now have dual-purpose speed and message trailers that provide valuable data we can use to clear complaints and calm traffic.”

Frequently asked questions

Message board trailer or sign trailer?

Message board trailers carry a full-size board for work zones, detours and highways. Sign trailers carry a smaller radar or message sign for neighborhood streets and events, and collect speed data; see speed and message trailers.

How long do they run without sun?

The battery banks are sized for days of cloudy weather (17 days on the SMC 5000), and the solar panels recharge them automatically; AC charging is built in.

Can we program them remotely?

Yes, with the optional cellular link: update messages in real time from a phone, tablet or computer, with hourly monitoring and diagnostics.

Are they MUTCD and NTCIP compliant?

Yes. The boards meet MUTCD requirements and the onboard controllers are NTCIP compliant, so they work with traffic management systems.

Planning a work zone or detour?

Tell us how long the boards need to stay out, how far drivers need to read them, and whether you'll change messages remotely. We'll recommend the boards and how many.
